David’s Lighting
As David’s character transformed throughout the show, so do his lights.
During Act 1, David’s lights are a light green representing his innocence, his connection to nature as a shepherd, and his reliance on God.
In Act 2 David’s lights shift to a blue, reflecting his elevating status and his constant humility, as well as his departure from the fields he grew up in to a life in Jerusalem.
In Act 3 David rises to power. His lights shift to a purple to represent his royalty and high status. The purple is much darker than the blue or green were, with the same intensity as Saul’s red, represents his disobedience of God’s command.
Lights During Conflict
The lights during conflict had a high intensity that allowed the character’s colors to clash against each other while still clearly showing each character’s presence in the scene.
